2.11 Why do gases always tend to be less soluble in liquids as the temperature is raised?
The dissolution of a gas in a liquid is an exothermic process. Therefore, according to the LeChatelier principle, the equilibrium shifts in the backward direction with the increase in temperature.
Gas + Liquid → Solution + Heat
Therefore the solubility of the gas in solution decreases with rise in temperature.
