(a) The five kingdom classification was proposed by RH Whittaker in 1969. He was an American taxonomist and to develop phylogenetic classification he divided organisms into five kingdoms, i.e.,
(i) Monera
(ii) Protista
(iii) Fungi
(iv) Plantae
(v) Animalia
Carl Linnaeus developed two kingdom classification, i.e.,
(i) kingdom - Plantae
(ii) kingdom- Animalia.
Virchow is associated with the discovery of cell theory.
